  • From Sunday November 18 Bulletin

Immanuel began on June 1 2008 under the leadership of the Lord and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  Our Founding Pastor, Rev Jerry Montgomery along with his wife Madaline, retired from full time service as of the end of 2012 after more than sixty years of serving as a pastor.  Jerry and Madaline remain an important part of our congregation and he is recognized as our Honorary Pastor Emeritus.  After serving for five years with the International Mission Board in Africa and South America, my wife Dee and I joined Immanuel in March 2012, and then we were called by the church as the Pastor subsequent to Jerry’s retirement.

This church was purposefully named Immanuel, taken from Matthew 1:23, believing that God was with them then, and it is obvious He continues to be today.  The Lord continues to bless Immanuel with members who love Him and who love each other.  We want to be drawn closer to Him through daily reading of the Scriptures, communicating with Him through prayer, and by then being obedience to whatever He might have for us.

As you will see in other sections of our website, our services are held on Sunday mornings with Sunday School at 9:00 AM followed by our Worship Service at 10:00 AM.  Our midweek Prayer Meeting is on Wednesday evenings at 5:00 PM which includes a time of prayer and Bible study.  Choir practice begins at 6:00PM.  There are many other activities and active ministries for those who would like to be more involved.

Our initial building was completed in August 2012 which served us very well.  The Lord continues to bless Immanuel and as of July 2016 we moved into our second phrase of building with an additional 17,000 square feet for a new Worship Center and Fellowship Hall.  We are excited to be serving the Lord for His glory.

We strive to be a praying church, that loves the Lord, and are focused on being obedient to our purpose of supporting missions and taking the Word to the lost.

I trust the other information on this website may answer most of your questions but please feel free to call me at any time.  Our church phone is 352.502.3384.  If you are seeking a new church home we invite you to come and worship with us.

Blessings and love, Pastor Mike

Greetings in the name of Christ our Savior.

Welcome to the website of Immanuel Baptist Church

We greatly appreciate your time to read about us and trust this information will be of help to you.  We are Southern Baptist congregation with a more traditional worship and are confident you will find us to be a loving, warm group that loves Jesus.

As difficult as it is to believe, this Thursday is Thanksgiving Day!  I still cannot believe this year is almost over.  This is just a reminder that we are having Dinner here at church on Thursday and all are welcome; however, we do need to know how many are coming.  If you intend to come but have not signed up yet, please do so today.  Guests are welcome to join us.
Last Sunday was a powerful service as we not only honored our Veterans but collected 317 Christmas Shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse as well.  Thank you to all who participated in it with us, and especially thank you to all who provided shoeboxes for children all over the world.  Our Missions Committee did a wonderful job leading this initiative for us.
We are entering in to a very busy time beginning now through the end of the year.  There are several important activities on the church calendar for these last weeks and I encourage you to check closely so you do not accidentally miss one.  Something new for us this year is what we are referring to as “Remembrance Day.”  This will be a very special candle-light service to be held on 9 December at 4:00 PM in the Worship Center.  Please notice the insert in the bulletin again today with more details about it and I encourage everyone who has lost someone at any time to plan on attending.  This is being led by Vada Bell and Carlene Jones.  Please call one of them if you have specific questions.
Last Wednesday at our Business Meeting, the church approved establishing a Special Committee to analyze and develop a recommendation on how we might best assist those in need in the hurricane impacted areas of our state.  Please pray for this group as they work through this process and finalize their recommendation.  If you still would like to give specifically to this fund, you may do so by making your check payable to the church but designating it for the “Panhandle.”  Money given to this will be used completely to support our effort there.
We trust you all feel welcome here this morning.  If you are looking for a church home, we pray that you will find exactly where the Lord wants you to be.  Serving the Lord is what we are called to do and it is critical to be where He wants us to be to do just that.

Blessings and love to all,

Pastor Mike
